This is the original design sketch I did for my infamous "voo doo lady" character, followed by a picture of me in a similar outfit that same year (2007). The "breastplate", which was a focal piece for this character, I made from leather and stuffed with poly-fil to give it shape. Though my clothing changed in accordance with the weather, the breastplate, the staff (composed of a stick with tribal painted designs, a taxidermy alligator skull given to me be a friend at Spookywoods, and some feathers and beads) were among the staple props and accessory elements which remained the same. The character and scene became so iconic, that I would do variant renditions of her for the next 5 or 6 years. Though many elements remained the same, she changed, and morphed, and grew with each year, but this is her at the very beginning. The last season I performed as the voo doo lady, I had a different costume for her every single night of the season. They were all my own creations.
